Bar, Tavern & Nightclub Insurance

Alcohol-driven venues are among the hardest risks to place in the standard market. Liquor liability lawsuits, dram shop statutes, assault & battery claims, late-night operations and entertainment exposures push most carriers to decline. We specialize in bars, taverns, nightclubs, brewpubs, distilleries and live-music venues — placing single locations and multi-location chains across 20+ states with carriers that actually want this class of business.

Coverages we place

Who needs this coverage

Stand-alone bars, taverns, sports bars, nightclubs, lounges, live-music venues, brewpubs, taprooms, distilleries with tasting rooms, hotels with bar operations, multi-location restaurant groups where alcohol exceeds 30% of revenue, and any operator facing dram shop exposure or carrier non-renewal.

Frequently asked questions

What is dram shop liability and do I need it?

Dram shop laws hold alcohol-serving establishments financially liable when an intoxicated patron causes injury or death after leaving. Florida's statute (§768.125) is narrower than Texas, New York or New Jersey, but landlords and lenders almost always require dram shop coverage regardless of state. We write dram shop endorsements tuned to each jurisdiction.

Why do bars need a specialty carrier instead of a standard BOP?

Standard Business Owner's Policies cap or exclude liquor liability, assault & battery, late-night operations and entertainment. Once alcohol exceeds ~30% of revenue or you stay open past midnight, you need a specialty alcohol program. We place these through carriers like Society Insurance, Founders, Distinguished and program markets.

Can you cover multi-location bar or restaurant groups?

Yes. We write portfolio programs for 2 to 50+ locations across multiple states with consolidated billing, master schedule of insurance, and per-location liquor and assault & battery limits. This is a core Garzor specialty.

What is assault & battery coverage and why is it separate?

Most GL and liquor policies exclude or sub-limit assault & battery (often capped at $25K). Real claims routinely exceed $500K. We negotiate full-limit A&B with no sub-limit, including coverage for injuries caused by your security staff.

Can you cover a brewery, distillery or brewpub with a tasting room?

Yes — we write craft beverage manufacturers including product liability for the beverage itself, tasting-room liquor liability, brewery property and equipment breakdown for tanks and chillers, and special-event coverage for festivals.

I was just non-renewed. Can you help?

Yes. Carrier exits and non-renewals are common in this class. Send us your loss runs and current declarations page — we'll quote alternative markets within 48 hours and can usually bind same-day before your current policy lapses.
